Theresa Chueh Chen

Theresa Chueh Chen age 75 of Northbrook, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, July 25, 2020 after multiple battles with cancer. Born October 5, 1944 in Taipei, Taiwan, Theresa was one of ten children born to the union of He-Shan Chueh and Wang Xi Chueh. Educated in Taiwan she immigrated to the United States to work on her master’s degree in Clinical Nutrition at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. While at the university she met and married her husband Warren Chien-Nan Chen on August 9, 1969 and they relocated to Chicago to start their family. The family then moved to Skokie and finally settled in Northbrook. Theresa worked as a registered dietitian at St. Mary of Nazareth Medical Center, Chicago, Charter Barclay Hospital, Chicago and retired from Glen Oaks Nursing Home, Northbrook. In Taiwan Theresa was the first in her family to come to faith in Jesus Christ. The couples’ strong faith helped them to be one of the founding families of the Evangelical Taiwan Church in Metro Chicago currently in Skokie. Theresa is the author of 101 Praise The Lord: My Life in America. The book is her testimony of life as an immigrant and how she overcame her first battle with cancer. One of her favorite activities was spending time at the Chicago Botanic Gardens with many friends. They would spend their Sunday mornings walking and enjoying the beauty of the gardens. Beloved wife of Warren Chien-Nan Chen. Loving mother of Justin (Judy) Chen of Buffalo Grove, Michelle (Alexander) Chu of Green Oaks and Milton (Hilary) Chen of Deer Park. Cherished grandmother of Jenna, Aaron and Clara Chen, Kristin, Josiah and Celina Chu; and Mairen and Curtis Chen. “Theresa’s greatest pride and joy in life were her 8 grandchildren whom she loved so much”. A private funeral service will be held on Tuesday, August 4, 2020 10:00 A.M. at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 N. Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, Rev. Alexander Chu officiating. The family will be laying Theresa to rest following the funeral service at Ascension Cemetery, 1920 Buckley Road, Libertyville. …
