White, Steven J. (1943-2023)
Steven J. White age 80 of Waukegan, Illinois passed away suddenly on Friday, May 26, 2023. He was born on May 15, 1943 in Highland Park//Detroit, Michigan, to Ralph L. and Lyla R. (Nelson) White and grew up in Waukegan, graduating from Waukegan High School. His marriage to Suzanne R. Miller followed their commencement from Lawrence University in 1965. Through the years they lived in Appleton, Wisconsin, Howard Lake, Minnesota, Chicago, Illinois, Somerville, Massachusetts, and returned to Waukegan. They had two children and were married for 57 years.

Steve received a BA Degree from Lawrence University Conservatory of Music and Master's and PhD degrees in school Administration from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Additionally, he earned a Certificate of Studies from Harvard University in Educational Administration. Steve retired from a career in School Administration, concluding at Millburn School District #24 as Superintendent of Schools.

Continuing his long time love and dedication to music, Steve was involved within music programs in Waukegan, contributing along with Suzanne at The Church of Immaculate Conception. Steve loved working with his hands and mind, spending hours studying, analyzing and restoring just about everything.

Steve is survived by his wife, Suzanne White, son, Joel White and granddaughter, Laurel White. He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Lyla White and eldest son, Jeremy White.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, June 3, 2023 from 11:00 AM until time of funeral mass Noon at Immaculate Conception Church, Grand and West Streets, Waukegan. Rev. James Merold, celebrant. Interment will be private.
