Rudolph Lindich, Jr. Obituary

Rudolph William Lindich, Jr., of Grayslake, IL, passed away peacefully on June 1, 2020 at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, IL, surrounded by his loved ones. He was 81 years of age. Rudy, as he was known by all, was the only child of the union of Rudolph William Lindich, Sr. and Victoria Mary Lindich of Waukegan, IL, born August 4, 1938. He was also raised by his paternal grandparents, Mary and Louis Lindich, who provided a loving and caring home while Rudy's father was away at war and continued to be an important part of his life for many years afterward. Rudy is survived by his beloved companion of 17 years, June Goss of Grayslake, and three children: Rudolph William (Tawnie Cisneros) Lindich, III of New Lenox, IL; Kristin Ann (David) LeDuc of Frederick, MD; and Jennifer Ann Lindsay of Jesup, GA. He is also survived by three grandsons who were a source of constant joy in his later years: David Matthew LeDuc, Jr.; Hudson William Lindich; and Porter Lindsay Towery. Rudy is also survived by his former wife, Leslie Lindsay Smith, of Mokena, IL. Taken as a whole, Rudy's life was a remarkably blessed one in spite of occasional setbacks and obstacles. He exceeded expectations as a youth, becoming his family's first college graduate after completing studies at Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, IL. He was an active member of Phi Sigma Epsilon Fraternity and remained in close friendship with many of his brothers for the rest of his life. Rudy applied his education in math, physics and engineering in many fields, from manufacturing and materials to medical technology and optics; the products of his work found their way into thousands of inventions and innovations in both the private and government sectors, including the US space program. In 2003, Rudy met June Goss, with whom he shared some of the happiest years of his life. They traveled extensively together, loved, laughed and celebrated their growing families at each holiday and birthday. No one will miss Rudy more than June, who simply described their relationship as best friends, and the best of everything. Those who knew Rudy, even casually, remember him vividly as a larger-than-life character who filled the room with his personality and exuberance. In fitting style, Rudy elected to be cremated in his favorite tuxedo, a request his family is delighted to honor. Rudy will be interred at Northshore Garden of Memories in North Chicago, IL in early August of 2020, alongside his beloved father and paternal grandparents.
