Juan Cansio Medina, Jr. 80, Cubs Fan and US Coast Guard Retired, of Northern Lake County, IL, passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at the Highland Park Hospital, he was born June 6, 1931 in San Antonio, TX, Juan "Daddy John" served 24 years in the U.S. Coast Guard and retired as a Chief Petty Officer, and then went on to Brookdale Hawthorn Lakes Senior Living where he worked as the reception supervisor for over 25 more years,

Juan "Daddy John" is survived by his wife of 25 years Myrna Medina nee: Akiatan of Round Lake, his children; Danny Alvarez of Chicago, Joemir (Lissette Gumapac) Alvarez of Cebu, Philippines, Ryan (Jeane) Alvarez, Roy Medina of WI, Ruben Medina of WI, Caroline Medina of Racine, WI, and Rick Medina of PA, grandfather of 4, brother and sisters; the late Ignacia (the late Raphael) Zaragosa, Alicia Caldillo, Maria (the late Luciano) Zalazar, Marina Medina, Carmen (the late Charles) Castille, Raymond (the late Viola) Medina, the late Anna Maria (William) Norton, Patricia Medina, and Amelia Medina.

Visitation will be held 5:00 P.M. to 9:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home 111 W. Belvidere Rd, Grayslake, IL 60030, 7:00 P.M. chapel service and Military Honors Fr. Timothy O’Malley, officiating, Interment will held private at a national cemetery at a later date, for additional information please contact the funeral home at 847-543-1080.
