Jean Souter Smith (Slater) Leishman

Jean Souter Smith Leishman, nee: Slater, 98, Royal Air Force Veteran of Grayslake, IL, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021 at the Condell Medical Center of Libertyville, IL, She was born February15, 1923 in Lossiemouth, Scotland, and was the middle child of five born to the union of George and Bella Slater, During WWII she serves in the RAF Woman's Signal Corp. she immigrated to Canada in 1952 where she met her future husband of 52 years when she return to Scotland and married her beloved David Leishman on July 7, 1954, in 1964 they immigrated to the United States and settling in Grayslake in 1966, Jean enjoyed reading, crosswords, knitting, and  sewing and was a faithful member of the United Protestant Church of Grayslake.
Jean is survived by her sons; David Leishman of Grayslake, IL, and Graham (Mary) Leishman of Fox Lake, IL, grandchildren; Robert Leishman of Fox Lake, IL, Carlie (Adam) Puder of Spring Grove, IL, and Mitch Titus of Peoria, IL, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins in Scotland, preceded in death by her husband; David Leishman, and her son; Ian Leishman.
A graveside service will be held on Jean & David's 68 wedding anniversary at 2:00 PM Thursday, July 7, 2022 at the Highland Memorial Park Cemetery, Libertyville, IL (Rt 120 & Hunt Club Rd.) Rev. Robert Kiblinger, officiating, the Symonds Lakes Funeral Home of Grayslake,IL were entrusted with the arrangements, for additional information please contact the funeral home 847-543-1080
