James “Jim” Borovka, 84, of Libertyville, IL, and Largo, FL, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family Thursday, April 20, 2023 in Florida. He was born March 26, 1939 in Chicago, IL.
Jim is survived by his wife, Marlene Borovka nee: Gaggioli of Libertyville; his son, Chris (Shari) Borovka of Grayslake; grandson Nicholas Borovka of Kenosha; and granddaughter Emma Borovka of Grayslake; preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Martha Borovka, his sister Joan Dooley, and brother Bob Borovka. Nieces include Susanne Hillesheim (Travis), Kim Pforr (Mark), Cindy Erickson (Dale), Tammy Morrison (Jim), Cathy Senftle (Pat), Mary Gentile (John); nephews include: Jim Federighi (Kathy), Tony Federighi (Hayde), Mike Gaggioli (Phyllis), Dan Gaggioli (Breda) and Ed Gaggioli (Chrissy).
Jim and Marlene met at Culligan, Inc. where he retired with over 40 years of service as a lab technician. Within their 59 years of marriage, they enjoyed many cruises, playing cards and mah jongg. He was an avid bird watcher, loved muskie fishing, coaching, and dog track racing. Jim suffered from end-stage renal disease, and with seven years of dialysis was very grateful for his special nurses, doctors and their staff.
A memorial visitation will be held 9:30 AM, Monday, May 22, 2023, at the St. Joseph Catholic Church of Libertyville, IL, 121 E. Maple Ave., Libertyville, IL 60048. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10:30 AM, Fr. John Trout, Officiating. Entombment of cremains to follow at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville, IL.
