Gordon Louis Meling

Gordon Louis Meling, age 82 of Cave Creek, AZ formerly of Lake Forest, IL passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday, July 27, 2021. Born November 4, 1938 in Chicago, IL to the union of Harold and Eva (Feldkirchner) Meling.  He graduated Arlington Heights High School, class of 1956. At the age of 18 as a tree trimmer he broke his back. After 6 months in hospital he began his failed pro golf career.  Failure sent him to Las Vegas where he again failed.  With $1.85 and a Standard Oil credit card he came back to his brother in Evanston only to have his car with all his worldly possessions stolen! Ergo he began his career in real estate, hated it but was determined and became successful, found Jesus, branched out into land development to become wildly successful as owner of Mission Enterprises.
His love for God propelled him to serve in many ways:
     Vision for Christ Church at corner of Rt. 43 and Rt. 60, Lake Forest
     Support of world wide missions,
          REMM, Romanian Evangelical Medical Mission, Peter Lucaciu
          Kingdom Partners Global, Roger and Tammie Myers
          Support of Christian education, family ministries, Jews for Jesus and more.
He believed in the sanctity of life, freedom of speech, the right to bear arms, freedom of religion and fiscal conservatism. 

His life verse was  Proverbs 16:3 "Commit to the Lord whatever you do and your plans will succeed."

 
Beloved husband of Alicia (Fain), loving father of Erin Shumway, Cara (Miles), Jenna and Cindy (Michael).  Dear brother of Wayne (Patrica), Nile (Jayne), Gramps to Acacia, Aziah, Adele, Banyan and Lily, uncle to Kristy, Brad and Megan (Josh). Brother-in-law of Tom (Lola) Huhnke, Hobart (Jan) Swan, uncle to Cristl (Fitz), James (Barb), Bart and Colin (Cara).

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, September 18, 2021 11:00 A.M. at Christ Church Lake Forest, 100 Waukegan Road, Lake Forest, IL. Private interment will be in Lake Forest Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions to the St. James Society of Christ Church Lake Forest or REMM "Romanian Evangelical Medical Mission" would be appreciated.
