Edward J. Praznowski, age 63, passed away January 6, 2021 in Berwyn, IL. He was born January 9, 1957 in Chicago, Illinois. He grew up in Chicago and graduated from Gordon Tech High School. He attended Wilbur Wright College and received a bachelors degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1984. Following his education he graduated from the Chicago Police Academy and became a police officer in 1986. Ed married Lisa Benigno in 1991 and from that union they had two children. He served on the police department for twenty three years and retired as a sergeant in 2009. After retiring Ed continued to ensure people felt safe by working numerous security jobs through the Chicagoland area. He was a member of many groups including the Polish American Police Association, the Polish American Congress, the Fraternal Order of Police, the Chicago Police Sargents Association, the Retired Chicago Police Association, and the Chicago Police Memorial Foundation . Ed enjoyed attending baseball games, hockey games, taking road trips to Michigan and going to the beach with his family and friends.
Loving father of Michael and Matthew Praznowski, the beloved companion of Terry Kotek. Dear brother of Stanley (the late Janice) Praznowski, John (Mary Jean) Praznowski, fond uncle of Tina Mola, Johnny, Charlie, and Nick Praznowski.
A visitation will be held on Friday, January 15, 2021 from 4:00 to 8:00 P.M. with a service at 7:00 P.M. officiated by the Chicago Police chaplain at Seguin and Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood, Illinois. Cremation rites will be private.
