Della Patricia Middlebrook

Della Patricia Middlebrook, age 81, of Highwood left this world for her eternal home in heaven with her Lord Jesus Christ on August 25, 2021. Pat, as she was known by her friends and family, and her twin brother Mike were born on April 22, 1940 in Kansas City, Missouri. They were much loved and anticipated arrivals as evidenced by the many cherished photographs taken of them dressed in their “twin outfits.”
 
Pat attended public schools in Kansas City and resided there until she met and married her husband Don, a tennis pro. They were married for 53 years until his passing on May 15, 2011. The family moved around a lot until Don started working in Chicago as an insurance agent. Pat worked as his secretary and also for several lawyers within the building.
 
Pat was a loyal friend and in her life made it a point to develop deep, enduring friendships. She loved gardening, cooking, annual summer visits to her brother’s in Kansas City, hosting her family on Thanksgiving, and all things Christmas.
 
She was an active member of Christ Church Lake Forest and on most Sundays was the “greeter with the hat” at the south door. Pat always greeted people with a warm smile and cheerful banter. No one was a stranger and she will be missed by many in the congregation.
 
Pat leaves to cherish her memory a daughter Kimball Joy Middlebrook; a son Tod Middlebrook; a granddaughter Dendrie (Zack) Wells; two grandsons Tod Middlebrook Jr. and Donald (Kaitlyn) Middlebrook; and a great-grandson Thomas Middlebrook as well as her beloved twin brother Mike Lund (Joyce).
 
She is preceeded in death by her parents Mervin and Dellla Lou Lund and husband, Don Middlebrook.
 
Memorial Service Tuesday, September 28 at 11:00 AM at Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood,  Pastor Ben Dockery, officiating.  A informal reception will follow the service.
