Darryl Wilkerson

Darryl Wilkerson was born on April 27, 1964 to Ethel Wilkerson and Edmond Wilkerson. He attended Mason Upper Grade Center on the Westside of Chicago Illinois and graduated from Proviso East High School in Maywood Illinois class of 1988. He attended Grace Memorial Baptist Church where he assisted the late Rev. William Johnson and was the President of the Junior Choir. He is also affectionately known as one of the top male soloists that led several Gospel classics such as "What is This?" by Walter Hawkins, "That's When You Blessed Me" by the L.A. Mass Choir, "If I Be Lifted" by Rev. Milton Brunson, and the remix of the R&B hit, "One In A Million" by Larry Graham. After High School, Darryl served in the United States Army.

Darryl was a caring and nurturing son, brother, father, and friend who never missed an opportunity to demonstrate his love in action. His charming attentive demeanor, coupled with his sense of humor, afforded him an uncanny ability to reach people in a deep way. Darryl lived life to the fullest through simple pleasures such as, chatting with family and friends by phone, dressing stylish, and offering guidance and spiritual advice. His special interests and hobbies included talking on Facebook and by the phone, singing, listening to music, stepping, playing basketball and conducting self-guided tours of Chicago and other surrounding areas. 

The Heavenly Angels guided Darryl home to reunite with his father Edmond Wilkerson and brother Jimmie Wilkerson on Wednesday, November 16, 2022 who preceded in his journey. He is survived by his mother, Ethel Wilkerson, his siblings, Dorothy Wilkerson, Don Wilkerson (Rae) and Larry Wilkerson, his children, Marcus Williams, Javonae Mitchell, Erik Johnson, Jayonta Mitchell - Messan, and Mercedes Sivels, 2 grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, loved ones and friends who will truly miss him.
