Daniel Glenn Edwards Obituary

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Daniel G. Edwards "Danny" at the age of 74, he left this world on February 24th 2024 with his children by his side, to be eternally in the presence of our Lord Jesus Christ, accompanied by the Holy Spirit into the arms of our Heavenly Father.

Dan grew up in Bellevue, Illinois born September 14th, 1949 to Glenn and Dorothy Edwards alongside his siblings Larry, Dave, Roberta, and Daryl. He was very active growing up, he played football in grade school and was a starting running back at Limestone High School.

Dan spent the majority of his adult life in South suburbs of Chicago and Frankfort Illinois where he married Heidi Edwards (De Koker) and had his son, Travis, and his daughter, Tiffany. He enjoyed his job as a handy man and could fix just about anything. He did wonderful work and took pride in his craftsmanship. He loved being outside, listening to music, and fishing. Dan was a loyal Bears fan and fortunate enough to see the Bears win the Super Bowl.

Dan had a great sense of humor and had hundreds of jokes that he would share at the drop of a hat. He also had a saying for just about anything some of his favorites were “What does that have to do with the price of tea in China” and “One time I thought I was wrong but found out I was mistaken”. “Grandpa Dan” kept his playful nature his entire life and was a loving grandfather to his 8 grandchildren: Maddie, Abby, Peter, Millie, Palmer, Emmie, Sadie, and Presley.

Dan was always a people person and found great joy in the company of friends and family. He loved visiting near and far and if he couldn’t visit in person he would talk with them for hours on the phone. He loved meeting new people and had an extremely large presence wherever he would go.

He was a passionate Christian whom would tell everyone he could about his personal Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and share the Gospel with anyone willing to listen.

Danny had an enormous heart and deeply loved his family and friends. He is survived by his wife Heidi, his son Travis Edwards, daughter in-law Becky Edwards, and their five daughters, Madelyn, Abigail, Mirabelle, Emmalyn, and Sarah-Mae, his daughter Tiffany Kobit, son in-law Pete Kobit and their three children Peter, Palmer, and Presley.  He is also survived by his brother Larry (Pat) Edwards and his sister Roberta (Ron) Williams. He was preceded in death by his father Glenn E. Edwards, his mother Dorothy M. Edwards, his brothers Daryl Edwards, and Dave Edwards.

Dan’s family will host a memorial service in celebration of his life on Saturday March 16th 2024 from 12:00 p.m.- 2:00 p.m. with a pastoral message to follow at Village Church 14849 W. 93rd Ave., Dyer IN 46311 and an Open House to Commemorate Dan Edwards at the Edwards’ Home: 20191 Calumet Ave., Lowell, IN 46356.
