Bonnie Dale Hyland Shumate, age 60 of Des Plaines, Illinois went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 30, 2022. She was born November 3, 1962 in Chicago, Illinois the first child born to the union of Thomas and Erlene "Cookie" (Krock) Hyland. She graduated from the Carl Schurz High School, Chicago, class of 1980. At the age of 17 Bonnie was led and accepted Jesus as her Lord and Savior by young men on a summer mission's trip in a blue bus from Hammond, Indiana. Since then she has lived a Christ centered life. On August 8, 1998 she married Robert C. Shumate at the Belmont Assembly of God in Chicago by Rev. Earl Wetter. Bonnie's membership and attendance was at several Chicago area churches to include Midwest Bible Church in Chicago, Grace Lutheran Church in Bensenville and Grace Worship Center, Park Ridge. Bonnie was a beautiful woman inside and out, who's love and devotion to the Lord radiated an energy and excitement from her innermost being, she loved to sing and praise God with a voice of angelic exuberance which was from her innermost being that truly loved the Lord.
Beloved wife of 24 years to Robert C. "Bob" Shumate. Fond step-mother of Robert C. (Maria) Shumate, Jr., Teresa K (James) Ferguson, Rebecca (Jeff) Couch and Thomas Michael Shumate. Dear sister of Thomas Hyland, Jr., Janet (John) Sipes, Christine (Jose) Sanchez and Allen Hyland. Cherished daughter of the late Thomas and Judy Hyland. Fond step-grandmother of Chase and Madison Couch, Robert, Nicholas and Joshua Shumate, step-great grandmother of Vincent and Domenick Shumate. Loving niece of the late Carol (Steven) Stypinski, Patrick (Jeanne) Hyland, Darlene (Al) Marshall, late Chris Hyland, Lauren Hyland, Floralee S. Oler, Grace Christina Thompson and Norman Henry Krock. Fond aunt of 5 Katie Sipes, Nicholas Sipes, Alexis Sanchez, Angel Sanchez and Anamarie Sanchez. Devoted and loving friend to many.
Visitation Friday, January 6, 2023 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. with a evening service at 7:00 P.M. Visitation Saturday, January 7, 2023 from 10:00 A.M. until time of funeral service at 11:00 A.M. at Hope Community Bible Church, 1266 North Northwest Highway (at Potter Road), Park Ridge, Illinois. Interment will follow at All Saints Cemetery, 700 River Road, Des Plaines, Illinois. In lieu of flowers memorials to your favorite Christian charity in Bonnie's memory would be appreciated.
