Bob Merz

 Robert Michael Merz "Bob", age 66 of Highland Park, Illinois passed away on April 17, 2022 in South Lake Tahoe, California. He was born July 5, 1955 in Glendale, California to the union of Robert Wallace and Patricia (Cairns) Merz.  He graduated from Granada Hills High School, class of 1973 and received an Associates Degree from College of Lake County. He enlisted in the U.S. Navy serving for 8 years as an enlisted man.  In 1982 he married Sarah Jane Porter at Holy Family Church, North Chicago, Illinois. He worked for 25 years at Canine Coiffuer in Highwood and then drove a school bus for District 113, Highland Park High School.  Bob was an an active member of St. James Church, Highwood and was the director of the St. James Church Food Pantry. He also was a member of the Lake County IL Genealogical Society in Vernon Hills.

Beloved husband of the late Sarah Jane Merz on April 27, 1999. Loving father of Rachel Merz of South Lake Tahoe, CA and Robin Merz of Highland Park. Fond grandfather of Braxton Juron. Dear brother of Lisa (Randy) Suela of South Lake Tahoe, CA. Fond uncle of Becca Bandli of Gardenerville, NV and Reanna Suela of San Francisco area, CA. Great uncle of Koda Bandli and was known as Uncle Merz to Hayden, Shane and Micah Tebeest.

Visitation Sunday, May 1, 2022 from 4:00 to 9:00 P.M. Funeral Monday, May 2, 2022 9:30 A.M. from the Seguin & Symonds Funeral Home, 858 Sheridan Road, Highwood to Saint James Church, 134 North Avenue, Highwood, mass 10:00 A.M. Rev. Timothy O'Malley, celebrant. Interment and military honors following at Ascension Cemetery, Libertyville.  Contributions to Orphans of the Storm Animal Shelter, 2200 Riverwoods Road, Deerfield, IL 60015 or Feed My Starving Children, 742 East Park Avenue, Libertyville, IL 60048 would be appreciated.

In Bob's memory the family is requesting that those attending the visitation and funeral to please wear Hawaiian, Tie Die or Bold Floral Print clothing.
